A five-member team from the World Bank (WB) visited Purnea in Bihar, India, to study urban development aspects such as urban rejuvenation, skill development, healthcare, and digital infrastructure. The team included senior urban specialists and a municipal engineer, who were particularly impressed by the district's record room, which houses documents over 200 years old. District magistrate Anshul Kumar emphasized the importance of these documents as a 'priceless treasure' for future generations, aiding in the understanding of both colonial and modern history. The team also noted that the documents could provide valuable insights for urban planners. During their visit, the WB team toured various facilities, including the district magistrate's court and control room. This visit came just before the first Cabinet meeting of the Samrat Choudhary government, which approved the development of 11 Greenfield Satellite Townships in Bihar, including Purnea, while imposing a temporary ban on land transactions until a master plan is established.
