IndiaAI Mission announced the appointment of Saurabh Vijay as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Sudeep Shrivastava as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Saurabh Vijay, an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1998 batch, previously led the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Sudeep Shrivastava served as Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The mission, launched in March 2024 with a budget of ₹10,372 crore aims to advance the artificial intelligence ecosystem in India. Significant achievements include onboarding over 38,000 GPUs for startups and academia, and the establishment of 27 India Data and AI labs. Additionally, twelve teams have been selected to develop indigenous foundational models, enhancing India's capabilities in generative AI. These developments are expected to support innovation across various sectors, contributing to a robust AI infrastructure in the country.
