Khanna police in Ludhiana district, Punjab, India, have seized five illegal firearms, including two semi-automatic Zigana pistols and an Austrian-made Glock pistol, from two suspects involved in a ₹1-crore (approximately $120,000 USD) extortion bid. The firearms were recovered from Robin, a resident of Humayunpur village, and Hardeep Singh from Manjali Kalan village, both of whom have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident at the shop of commission agent Harish Chandar in the Payal grain market on April 14. Police have stated that these high-end firearms are rarely encountered in typical criminal cases. The investigation has already led to a total of nine arrests, with officials probing the connections of the accused to trace the weapon supply chain. Senior Superintendent of Police Darpan Ahluwalia indicated that gangster Doni Bal may have facilitated the procurement of these firearms. Authorities expect more arrests as the investigation unfolds.
