The upcoming Zone-II Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region, scheduled for June 8-10 in Chandigarh, will focus on sustainability by exclusively using electric buses for delegate transport. This initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to prudent resource use and environmental conservation. Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan has directed officials to ensure minimal expenditure during the conference. Six electric buses will transport delegates from various accommodations to key venues, including Haryana Lok Bhawan, where a luncheon hosted by Haryana governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh will take place. The inaugural session at the Haryana Vidhan Sabha will feature a ceremonial guard of honour for Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, followed by a group photograph. The event will culminate in a cultural program at Tagore Theatre, emphasizing constitutional values and democratic traditions. Speaker Kalyan stated that this arrangement aims to demonstrate the integration of governance with environmental responsibility, reflecting broader goals of energy efficiency and responsible public spending.
