On Thursday, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced the appointment of a new board and superintendent for Lake Worth Independent School District (ISD) following a state takeover. Lake Worth ISD is the second school district in Tarrant County to be placed under state control, with Fort Worth ISD having undergone a similar transition in March. Ena Meyers, who previously served as the deputy chief of strategic initiatives at Houston ISD, will take the helm as the new superintendent. She has a background in administration within Dallas and Arlington ISDs and has worked as a principal with Third Future Schools, a charter network in Colorado. Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath emphasized the need for a district that prepares students for future success, stating that the newly appointed board and superintendent are equipped to enhance academic outcomes and strengthen district systems. The TEA received 19 applications for the five-member board, with only four applicants residing within the Lake Worth ISD boundaries. The board includes Tom Harris, Amy Morgan, Ken Nichols, Mason Sneed, and Judy Starnes, each bringing unique expertise to the table.
