Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent climate activist, has announced plans to participate in a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6. He warned that he would commence a 42-day hunger strike if any CJP member, including founder Abhijeet Dipke, is detained prior to the event. The protest is aimed at demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to ongoing structural issues in national exams such as NEET-UG. Wangchuk expressed surprise at the strong alignment he has developed with the CJP, describing its members as genuine and patriotic youth. He urged participants to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, advising them to bring only water bottles and flowers, while remaining vigilant against any provocateurs. The CJP has transitioned from a satirical movement to a serious platform addressing pressing public concerns, including exam integrity and unemployment. Wangchuk's history of using hunger strikes for civic dialogue adds weight to the protest's credibility, as he previously undertook a hunger strike advocating for constitutional protections for Ladakh.
