The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress, claiming that election malpractice occurred in Falta, located in the Diamond Harbour area of West Bengal. BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya stated that the option to vote for the BJP was blocked with tape at multiple polling booths, effectively disenfranchising voters. This tactic has been labeled the 'Diamond Harbour Model,' purportedly used by Abhishek Banerjee, a Lok Sabha MP and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, to secure his seat. In response, Trinamool spokesperson Riju Dutta dismissed the allegations as unfounded, accusing the Election Commission and police observer Ajay Pal Sharma of failing to maintain order and threatening their candidates. Dutta emphasized that the BJP is fabricating claims due to their declining support in Bengal. The state's election chief, Manoj Agarwal, reassured that any reported issues are being addressed swiftly.
