This involves the development of armed autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) that will serve as a countermeasure to China's submarine force and enhance maritime security. These advanced drones are intended to be deployed at strategic maritime choke points, enabling persistent surveillance and protection of critical subsea energy pipelines and communication cables. By employing artificial intelligence, these AUVs can operate undetected for extended periods, creating a formidable barrier against Chinese naval operations. They also provide real-time data to allied command centers, thereby neutralizing the stealth advantages of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). Additionally, the expendable nature of these drones allows for continuous operations without the risk to human personnel, ensuring the security of vital trade routes in the Indo-Pacific region.
