In a recent initiative, the Himachal Pradesh government has appointed 361 ex-servicemen to honorary positions within the police department. Of these, 246 have been designated as head constables and 115 as assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs). During a ceremony at Oak Over, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed gratitude towards the ex-servicemen for their significant contributions to maintaining law and order. He noted that promoting these individuals one rank higher would enhance their dignity and provide them with the recognition they deserve for their service. Furthermore, Sukhu addressed the need to create more employment opportunities for Agniveers, citing a decrease in youth interest in military recruitment since the introduction of the Agniveer scheme. In a related event, CM Sukhu completed his self-enumeration for the census and urged citizens to engage in the process. He emphasized the census's role in democratic governance and its importance in informing development planning and welfare programs.
