The Delhi High Court has dismissed Great Eastern Energy Corp's (GEEC) petition requesting the validation of its bid for a coal bed methane block in the Raniganj Coalfield, located in West Bengal, India. GEEC argued that a technical malfunction on the e-bidding portal prevented it from completing its bid, claiming that the portal incorrectly indicated insufficient net worth. However, the division bench, comprising Justices Anil Kshetarpal and Amit Mahajan, found no evidence supporting GEEC's claims of a systematic malfunction. The court noted that the audit trail report revealed multiple incomplete activities on GEEC's part and significant delays in their actions, despite awareness of the impending deadline. Consequently, the court ruled that GEEC did not exhibit the necessary diligence to complete the bidding process on time. The government countered GEEC's assertions, stating that the bidding process was entirely system-driven and that the company's failure to submit its financial bid was not due to any technical issues.
