VD Satheesan is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala, leading a new cabinet that includes 20 ministers, with 11 from the Congress party and five from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). The cabinet also features two women and two members from the Scheduled Castes, reflecting a commitment to social and regional representation. The decision on the cabinet was made after discussions among alliance leaders, ensuring a balance within the coalition. Satheesan noted that the cabinet formation process was completed in just 24 hours, which he described as the fastest in Kerala's history. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 10 am on May 18 at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, with prominent political figures expected to attend, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Satheesan highlighted the importance of accommodating various eligible members while maintaining a balanced representation in the cabinet.
