The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has secured approval from the Ministry of Environment to proceed with the construction of an integrated manufacturing and logistics cluster (IMLC) in Unnao, covering an area of 135 hectares. The project, which has a budget of around ₹450 crore, is projected to create 19,000 jobs. Of the total area, 75 hectares will be developed for industrial plots, while 24 hectares will be set aside for green space. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote industrialization along expressways, with UPEIDA tasked to transform villages and towns into industrial hubs. The IMLC will support various sectors, including defence equipment manufacturing, semiconductors, electric vehicles, and agro-food processing. The site benefits from proximity to key transport links, including Sonik railway station and major highways, which are expected to attract significant investment.
