The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter Foundation has introduced a new fundraising initiative called the 'Campaigning for a Cause – Mayor Dog Campaign' to support local shelter pets. This competition encourages local businesses and their canine representatives to vie for the title of Mayor Dog, fostering community engagement and raising funds for the shelter. In just a few days, the campaign has successfully raised over $2,500, with more than 30 dogs participating, each promoting their campaigns through social media and community outreach. The event is designed to not only generate funds but also to raise awareness about pet adoption and the needs of shelter animals. The campaign will culminate in a community celebration at Unleashed on June 30, where participants will be recognized, winners announced, and additional fundraising activities will take place. Additionally, the TMAS Foundation is preparing to launch the TMAS Heroes Program, aimed at providing consistent financial support for shelter pets throughout the year.
