In Ranchi, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has observed a notable increase in applications for its child sponsorship scheme, attributed to growing public awareness about children's rights. Chairperson Kunti Sahu reported that the committee manages approximately 50 to 60 cases monthly, with sponsorship requests making up about 85% of these cases. In April and May, the CWC received more than 70 requests, a positive sign of community engagement. The sponsorship initiative offers a monthly grant of ₹4,000 per child, aimed at ensuring access to education, nutrition, and healthcare for those in vulnerable situations, including orphans and children from single-parent households. CWC member Khursheed Alam emphasized that each application undergoes a detailed social investigation to confirm the need for support. Ranchi's deputy commissioner, Manjunath Bhajantri, reaffirmed the administration's dedication to creating a safe and healthy environment for all children in need, ensuring they receive adequate support for a happy life.
