During a recent review meeting, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath advocated for the state to be developed as an international wellness destination, urging officials to implement the ‘Ayush Health and Wellness Policy-2026’. He highlighted the importance of integrating traditional practices like Ayush, Yoga, and Panchakarma with modern management to enhance healthcare services and attract tourism. Adityanath pointed out that Uttar Pradesh's spiritual heritage, particularly around cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Mathura, presents significant opportunities for wellness and healing tourism. Currently, the state has nearly 4,000 Ayush health units and over 1,000 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. The new policy proposes the creation of Integrated Centres of Excellence, which will focus on wellness and treatment, alongside incentives for investment and employment generation. Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite the establishment of Ayush colleges in various divisions and improve outpatient services in existing medical institutions to ensure quality healthcare and wellness services for patients.
