The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Wednesday that the southwest monsoon, or 'habagat', has weakened but thunderstorms are still anticipated nationwide. Currently, the habagat is affecting primarily the western section of Northern Luzon. Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez stated that widespread rainfall is not expected; instead, localized thunderstorms will be the primary source of rain in many areas. Cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecasted for the Ilocos region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands. Additionally, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are likely to experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon to evening. Pagasa also confirmed that there are no low-pressure areas detected within the Philippine area of responsibility at this time, indicating a stable weather pattern despite the localized thunderstorms.
