The Haryana government has announced that all government schools in the state will be closed for summer vacation from May 25 to June 30, 2026, due to extreme heat and heatwave alerts affecting the region. This decision was made during a high-level review meeting led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The closure aims to ensure the safety and health of students as temperatures soar across Haryana and neighboring states. Schools are set to reopen on July 1, 2026. Alongside the vacation announcement, the government introduced several educational reforms. One key reform is the implementation of 'Shramdaan' or voluntary labor as a mandatory part of the curriculum, promoting discipline and social responsibility among students. Additionally, teachers will not be allowed to carry mobile phones in classrooms, with devices kept in the principal's office to improve classroom focus. Furthermore, the government has initiated the 'Chief Minister Excellence and Early English Schools' program, aiming to upgrade 250 schools with modern infrastructure and bilingual education facilities in Hindi and English. Parents and students are advised to stay informed through official notifications regarding any changes due to weather conditions.
