The Rouse Avenue court has extended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody of Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case. The extension was granted by Special Judge Ajay Gupta, allowing custody until Monday. Hawaldar, a physics expert, was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, and is accused of conspiring with others to retain and distribute the NEET UG exam paper for financial gain. The CBI argued that further custody is necessary to confront her with other accused individuals and students involved in the case. Her defense attorney, Akhilesh Rexwal, opposed the remand, claiming Hawaldar has cooperated with the investigation and should be sent to judicial custody instead. The court permitted her to carry two pairs of spectacles during her custody period. The investigation continues as the CBI seeks to identify other individuals involved in the conspiracy.
