In a decisive move to combat the sale of intoxicants near educational institutions, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration in Uttar Pradesh, India, has ordered an escalation of inspections and enforcement activities. This initiative is part of a comprehensive anti-narcotics campaign aimed at protecting students from substance abuse. During a review meeting led by Atul Kumar, the additional district magistrate, officials were instructed to intensify enforcement operations and maintain vigilance against illegal activities surrounding schools and colleges. The administration plans to expand awareness programs targeting youth, educating them about the dangers associated with narcotics and tobacco products. The excise department, in collaboration with local police, has been actively conducting enforcement drives to tackle the illegal trade of intoxicants. Reports on these actions and awareness efforts are to be submitted for review. Parents, represented by Manoj Kataria of the Gautam Budh Nagar Parents Welfare Society, have expressed growing concern over the rising use of intoxicants among students, emphasizing the need for strict monitoring and enforcement to safeguard their children.
