On Wednesday, Kolhapur police registered a second FIR against Shahid Sanade for charges of rape and sexual exploitation of another woman, expanding the investigation into his alleged crimes. Sanade is already in custody for a previous case. The police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by additional superintendent of police Dr. B. Dheeraj Kumar to ensure a thorough investigation. The latest complaint was filed by a 22-year-old woman, who reported the incident after receiving counseling from police officers. The alleged exploitation occurred in 2022 while both the victim and the accused were in Class 12. Investigators believe that Sanade used social media to befriend young women, develop emotional relationships, and subsequently sexually assault them, often recording the incidents for blackmail. Police are also looking into whether this case is part of a larger organized network targeting women in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.
