Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara is under scrutiny after a Bengaluru court ordered the registration of a case against him for allegedly placing a ₹500 bet during a kabaddi tournament in Tumakuru. The incident occurred when Parameshwara made a friendly wager with District Deputy Commissioner Shubha Kalyan, predicting that the Vijayapura team would win. However, the Dakshina Kannada team triumphed with a score of 36-26. The minister acknowledged the bet while distributing prizes, which led to a private complaint filed by HR Nagabhushan. The complaint argued that public betting, even in a casual context, is illegal and inappropriate for someone in a constitutional position. Following this, the 42nd Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Bengaluru, under Judge KN Shivakumar, directed police to register a First Information Report (FIR) and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
