In Bengaluru, a growing number of parents are opting to withdraw their children from Class 11 in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools, largely due to dissatisfaction with the recently implemented On Screen Marking (OSM) system. This digital evaluation method, introduced for Class 12, has led to significant confusion and concern among students and parents alike. Following the announcement of results on May 13, many students reported discrepancies in their marks, with claims of blurry scanned answer scripts and ungraded questions. Consequently, at least 15 students have withdrawn their admissions in the past week, with some schools issuing transfer certificates. Parents are now favoring pre-university courses that follow the state syllabus, which aligns with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) framework. School officials noted that despite efforts to reassure parents about the CBSE evaluation system, trust has diminished, prompting a shift towards the Karnataka PU board, which offers a three-exam policy and is perceived as more reliable.
