India's efforts to bolster its submarine fleet's endurance and stealth capabilities took a significant step forward with the flagging off of a simulated Liquid Oxygen (LOX) storage module by INOX India Ltd (INOXCVA). This module, developed at INOXCVA's facility in Kalol, Panchmahal district, Gujarat, is designed for the Indian Navy's indigenous Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system. The AIP system allows submarines to operate for extended periods without surfacing, enhancing their stealth in naval operations. The cryogenic LOX storage tank will undergo Factory Acceptance Tests as part of the AIP programme, which is managed by the Naval Material Research Laboratory (NMRL) based in Ambernath, Thane district, Maharashtra. NMRL Director Dr. Suman Roy Choudhury and INOXCVA CEO Deepak Acharya flagged off the module, highlighting its importance in supporting India's defense capabilities. Acharya noted that this milestone reflects INOXCVA's contribution to mission-critical systems, emphasizing their commitment to safety, reliability, and engineering excellence in defense applications.
