On Sunday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw laid the foundation for a semiconductor plant in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, marking a significant milestone for the state's industrial development. Vaishnaw emphasized that this event signifies Odisha's transformation into a vital hub for advanced technology and electronics manufacturing. The semiconductor plant, developed by 3D Glass Solutions Inc. (3DGS), is expected to enhance the state's semiconductor ecosystem, with investments from global leaders like Intel and Lockheed Martin. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Indian government, which has approved ten semiconductor projects nationwide, with investments exceeding ₹1.6 lakh crore (approximately $192 million USD). The facility will produce 69,600 glass panel substrates and 50 million assembled units annually, focusing on applications in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. Overall, the project aims to create over 2,000 skilled jobs and strengthen India's ambition for a self-reliant semiconductor industry.
