According to a report submitted by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Gurugram district generated the highest unprocessed waste in Haryana between July and December last year, with a processing gap of 3,055 tonnes per day. The total waste generation during this period was 6,927 tonnes per day, with 2,765.1 tonnes concentrated in southern Haryana's urban local bodies. Gurugram processed only 49.67 tonnes of its 1,787.67 tonnes of waste, while Faridabad reported a gap of 550 tonnes from 1,000 tonnes generated. Other districts like Nuh and Rewari also showed alarming gaps, with zero disposals reported. The report noted an increase in legacy waste at the Bhandwari landfill, rising to 1.38 million tonnes. The ULB department is moving forward with tenders for waste processing in several municipalities, indicating a proactive approach to waste management. The NGT is set to review the situation in an upcoming hearing.
