Danish Abdi and Vrushali Prasade, a couple from Bengaluru, India, have made history by completing the first open water swim from Sri Lanka to India. They swam approximately 32 kilometers across the Ram Setu route in the Indian Ocean, finishing the challenge in 10 hours and 45 minutes. The couple shared their excitement on Instagram, stating, 'We did it! Sri Lanka to India. Tough day out in the water.' Their post garnered a flood of congratulatory messages, with many praising their determination and teamwork. The swim, which was part of an initiative supported by Manipal Hospitals, not only showcased their athletic prowess but also aimed to highlight the cultural connection between India and Sri Lanka. The couple, both in their early 30s and working in the IT sector, had previously participated in relay swims but described this as their first long-distance swim together. Their journey was closely monitored by paramedics and coast guards, ensuring safety throughout the challenge.
