Late Tuesday night, a fire accompanied by high-intensity blast-like sounds erupted in the Patel Park area of Abohar, Punjab, resulting in severe injuries and extensive property damage. A 45-year-old woman named Pooja suffered 95% burns and is currently in critical condition after being transferred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot. The fire, which occurred around 10 pm, also injured four others, including Pooja's family members. Preliminary investigations by police suggest a spark from a generator, used for a sugarcane juice machine, ignited fuel and caused the fire. The explosion reportedly shattered shop shutters and damaged nearby buildings, with residents describing the impact as waking the entire neighborhood. Despite police claims of no foul play, local residents are skeptical, citing the intensity of the damage and calling for a deeper investigation into the possibility of leftover firecrackers from Diwali being a contributing factor.
