Telangana's Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has announced a significant expansion of nursing education in the state, with plans to establish 10 new B.Sc Nursing colleges and one postgraduate nursing college. This initiative aims to enhance nursing education and infrastructure to meet the growing demand for trained nursing professionals. During a review meeting held in Hyderabad, the minister underscored the importance of providing career advancement opportunities for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students by allowing them to enroll in Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing courses. He highlighted the need to adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape by expanding higher education in nursing. Additionally, Narasimha instructed officials to develop an action plan to strengthen midwifery courses in nursing colleges statewide. To further improve the administrative efficiency of the Telangana Nursing Council, the government is in the process of establishing a Registrar position. Moreover, officials were directed to ensure that adequate basic amenities are available at the Nursing Council office for students and nurses visiting for various administrative services.
