Thol Thirumavalavan, leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party in Tamil Nadu, stated that he has rejected proposals from both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to appoint him as chief minister. During a press interaction, he mentioned that the VCK has yet to decide on seeking a share in power within the Tamil Nadu government or exiting the DMK alliance. Thirumavalavan expressed his intention to support the current government to prevent the imposition of governor's rule. He also commented on the upcoming trust vote, indicating that the Speaker would determine the validity of votes if any MLAs defy party directives. In a gesture reflecting political civility, Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay visited Thirumavalavan, who highlighted the significance of secularism in politics by gifting him a copy of the Constitution's Preamble. Additionally, he defended the appointment of an astrologer as an officer on special duty, arguing that it does not conflict with secular values.
