The cruise ship Ambition, carrying 1,701 passengers, was recently freed from a quarantine imposed due to a norovirus outbreak. The vessel, which had docked in Bordeaux, France, faced a health scare after 48 passengers and one crew member were confirmed to have gastrointestinal illness. A 92-year-old British passenger unfortunately passed away from cardiac arrest, which health officials confirmed was unrelated to the norovirus. Following the outbreak, the cruise line, Ambassador Cruise Line, implemented enhanced sanitation protocols, including increased cleaning measures and guidance on hand hygiene. The ship had embarked from Belfast on May 8 and was on a 14-night journey that included stops in Liverpool before heading to France and Spain. Local officials allowed passengers without symptoms to disembark, while those who were ill remained in quarantine.
