In the early hours of Sunday, a Hanuman temple located in the Garikhana locality of Shillong, Meghalaya, was vandalized by unidentified assailants. The incident, which occurred around 1 am, involved the theft of several valuable items, including idols of Lord Krishna, Radha, and Hanuman, along with silver ornaments and cash from the donation box. The thieves reportedly broke open a side entrance to access the temple and caused significant damage, including setting fire to CCTV cameras to destroy evidence. Despite this, footage from neighboring houses captured images of the suspects fleeing the scene, which may aid in the ongoing investigation. The incident has sparked concerns among local residents about the security of religious sites and the adequacy of police patrols during night hours.
