On Saturday, six leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were sworn in as ministers in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, which is led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The oath of office was administered by Governor Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow. The new ministers include Manoj Kumar Pandey, Bhupendra Singh, Hansraj Vishwakarma, Krishna Paswan, Somendra Tomar, and Ajit Singh. This cabinet expansion fills vacancies that had existed, increasing the total number of ministers to 21, including the chief minister and two deputy chief ministers. The reshuffle is strategically timed as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance prepares for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, aiming for a third consecutive term. State minister Narendra Kashyap noted that the expansion reflects the government's commitment to social balance and inclusive governance, aligning with the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (Together with all, Development for all). Another minister, Anil Rajbhar, highlighted that the expansion was necessary to reach the constitutional strength of the council of ministers, with new inductees representing diverse social groups and regions.
