In a disturbing incident, Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant to Suvendu Adhikari (a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party), was murdered in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Police reported that Rath suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Adhikari alleged that the murder was pre-planned, suggesting that a reconnaissance was conducted prior to the attack. He criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), attributing the violence to their 15-year rule, which he described as a “maha jungle raj.” Following the murder, TMC leaders condemned the act and highlighted recent violence against their workers, calling for a court-monitored investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
