The 32-year-old midfielder confirmed her decision to leave Barcelona last month, where she had become one of the sport's greatest players, winning numerous titles and back-to-back Ballon d’Or awards in 2021 and 2022. According to reports, she has finalized personal terms with London City for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Putellas is expected to be joined by international teammate Mapi Leon and former England goalkeeper Mary Earps, with all three players arriving on free transfers. London City Lionesses, an independent WSL club based in Bromley, is owned by Michele Kang, who has ambitious goals for the team. Kang, who also owns Olympique Lyonnais and Washington Spirit, has previously made headlines by signing Grace Geyoro for a record £1.4 million.
