Varma criticized opposition parties for their role in the bill's defeat in the Lok Sabha, attributing their actions to 'meaningless excuses' that have historically hindered women's political participation. He noted that the bill was passed in Parliament in 2023, expressing hope among women nationwide for a brighter future if the amendment is approved. The opposition's rejection of the bill was linked to concerns over its connection with the Delimitation Bill, which adjusts the boundaries and representation of electoral constituencies. Varma condemned the Congress party and its allies for spreading misinformation regarding potential injustices to southern states if seats in the Lok Sabha were increased. He assured that the government would reintroduce the bill to ensure the implementation of women's reservation.
