From May 1 to 9, 2026, the Rajasthan excise department conducted a statewide enforcement drive against illegal liquor operations, resulting in 906 cases filed and 290 arrests. The operation led to the seizure of 3,799 litres of country liquor, 926 litres of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and 1,443 litres of beer. Authorities also destroyed 2.36 lakh litres of wash used in illegal brewing. In addition, 33 vehicles were confiscated during the raids. The excise commissioner, Namit Mehta, emphasized a 'zero tolerance' policy towards liquor smuggling from other states and illegal sales. Notable seizures included English liquor marked for sale in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the cross-border nature of the illegal liquor trade. The excise teams have been instructed to intensify their efforts across various districts, ensuring stricter enforcement and monitoring.
