On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss significant development issues affecting the state. Fadnavis expressed appreciation for Modi's guidance, stating it provided 'positive energy' for Maharashtra's development agenda. He shared updates on various ongoing projects and initiatives. Additionally, Fadnavis met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address concerns of sugar cooperative industry and onion-producing farmers. He assured that a positive decision regarding the increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP), ethanol quota, and loan restructuring would be forthcoming. Fadnavis indicated that a proposal regarding ethanol has been requested, which could alleviate challenges faced by sugar mill owners. Furthermore, he mentioned that a decision on the procurement of onions by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) would be made within 10 days, with a demand for procurement to increase to 10 lakh tonnes and an increase in procurement prices.
