Himachal Pradesh conducted elections for 51 urban local bodies, including four municipal corporations, with a recorded voter turnout of 69.16%. The highest voter turnout was in Hamirpur district at 78.89%, while Solan district had the lowest at 64.20%. Notably, Naina Devi achieved the highest participation rate at nearly 86%. The counting of votes for the municipal corporations is scheduled for May 31. Former chief minister Shanta Kumar, aged 92, highlighted the importance of electing honest leaders, stating that corruption could be eliminated by choosing dedicated candidates. Overall, the elections were marked by a peaceful atmosphere and significant voter engagement.
