Anthropic PBC, known for its Claude chatbot, has reportedly selected Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to lead its upcoming initial public offering (IPO), as per a Bloomberg report. The company, which has filed confidentially for a listing, is considering going public as early as October 2023. With a valuation of $965 billion from its latest funding round, Anthropic has overtaken its competitor OpenAI in valuation for the first time. JPMorgan Chase & Co. is also expected to assist with the IPO, and additional banks may join the consortium. This move comes amid a wave of major private companies preparing for public listings this year. Notably, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is planning to go public soon, aiming for a valuation of $1.8 trillion and has an agreement with Anthropic to supply AI computing capacity, including access to 325,000 Nvidia chips for $1.25 billion per month until May 2029. OpenAI is also in talks with several banks regarding its own IPO plans, with CEO Sam Altman indicating that a filing will occur when it is deemed appropriate.
