Anton Sikharulidze has been re-elected as president of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSFR) during a recent meeting, where he ran unopposed and received unanimous support. The 49-year-old former Olympic champion first took on the role in February 2025 at an extraordinary conference of the FSFR, where he was also unopposed. His appointment as acting head of the federation came in April 2023 after the death of Alexander Gorshkov, who had been president since 2010. Sikharulidze is well-known for his achievements in figure skating, having won a gold medal in pair skating at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, as well as a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. His accolades also include two gold medals and a silver at the World Championships in 1998, 1999, and 2001, along with two gold and a bronze at the European Championships in 1998, 2001, and 1997 respectively. His leadership is expected to guide the federation through upcoming challenges in the sport.
