In a recent announcement, Madhu Bangarappa (Karnataka's District in-charge Minister) confirmed that marks will be awarded for the third language in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations this year, instead of the previously planned grades. This decision comes after a directive from the high court, which favored marks over grades. The government plans to approach the court next year to seek permission to revert to grades for the third language. Bangarappa expressed confidence in improved results this year, noting that only 1,777 students failed in all subjects compared to over 30,000 last year in the second Pre-University (PU) examinations. He credited the positive outcomes to the efforts of teachers and parents. The announcement of SSLC results is expected soon, following the high court's ruling.
