In a recent statement, J C D Prabhakar, the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, addressed the ongoing review of petitions submitted by both factions of the AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) party, which are claiming legitimacy. Prabhakar indicated that the decision regarding these petitions would be made 'at the appropriate time soon,' stressing that the examination of such petitions is conducted in accordance with legal provisions and assembly rules. He noted that there is no specific time limit for this review process, which allows for thorough consideration. Responding to remarks made by former Speaker Appavu, who suggested that only petitions from recognized party leadership should be considered, Prabhakar maintained that he is well-versed in the rules and decisions would reflect what is correct and acceptable to the public. Additionally, Prabhakar announced that pending sewer works along Avvai Shanmugham Salai in Chennai would be completed within a month, and he encouraged councillors from the Greater Chennai Corporation to participate in area inspections.
