The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a significant investment of ₹2,550 crore by NPSPL Speciality Chemicals Private Ltd to set up a cathode material manufacturing facility in Chittoor district. This facility, covering 105 acres in Gudupalle Mandal, will produce cathode materials essential for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems. By focusing on domestic production, the project aims to reduce India's reliance on imports for key battery components and enhance local manufacturing capabilities. It is strategically positioned to benefit from the growing electronics manufacturing sector and the global shift towards electrification. The project, approved under the Andhra Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy (4.0) 2025–30, has received a customized incentive package, including capital subsidies and a 100% electricity duty exemption for 10 years. With an expected creation of around 400 direct jobs, this facility will also support ancillary industries such as battery manufacturing and electronic hardware production, thereby strengthening India's position in the global electronics and energy sectors.
