Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Wednesday that he has reduced the size of his official convoy and emphasized the state's commitment to increasing the use of electric vehicles (EVs). This decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for austerity in response to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, which has impacted global economic conditions. Sai stated that the state government would take phased steps to convert all government vehicles to electric, urging cabinet ministers and office-bearers of state-run corporations to use resources more judiciously. He highlighted the importance of reducing fuel consumption and adopting sustainable practices, including public transport and carpooling. The Chief Minister described these measures as essential for conserving resources and addressing environmental challenges. Finance Minister OP Choudhary also announced a reduction in his convoy's size, reflecting a broader commitment to austerity within the state government.
