A.H. Vishwanath (BJP MLC and former Minister) has expressed strong objections to the Karnataka government's decision to revoke the suspension of K. Ramachandra Rao, the Director-General of Police. Rao was suspended earlier this year after videos surfaced on social media allegedly showing him in compromising situations with women in his office. Vishwanath questioned the government's commitment to the rule of law, citing forensic evidence that the videos had not been tampered with. He also recalled Rao's controversial past, including his involvement in a bus robbery case during his tenure as Inspector-General of Police in Mysuru and a recent gold smuggling case linked to his stepdaughter, Ranya Rao. Furthermore, Vishwanath raised suspicions of kickbacks influencing the reinstatement decision. In addition, he criticized a felicitation ceremony for former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who has been accused in a serious case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, questioning the appropriateness of the event attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
