In response to the tragic deaths of two postpartum women at the New Medical College Hospital in Kota, Rajasthan, the state government has taken disciplinary measures against medical staff involved. A senior doctor, Dr. Navneet Kumar, has been suspended, while Dr. Shraddha Upadhyay, an assistant professor, has been dismissed. Two nursing officers, Gurjot Kaur and Nimesh Verma, were also suspended for negligence. Preliminary investigations revealed significant failures in adhering to medical protocols, prompting Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to demand a thorough inquiry. The incident occurred after cesarean sections were performed on 12-13 women, with six experiencing critical complications shortly after. One woman, identified as Payal, died on Tuesday, followed by Jyoti Nayak on Thursday. The government has emphasized the need for enhanced monitoring and treatment protocols for admitted patients, with further actions pending the inquiry results.
