The Tamil Nadu Police have arrested two suspects, Karthi (33) and Mohan (30), in connection with the abduction and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore. The girl went missing on May 21 while playing outside her home and was discovered deceased the next day. IGP Bharathi reported that Karthi, an acquaintance of the victim's family, confessed to luring the child, sexually assaulting her, and subsequently murdering her. The police have invoked the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, indicating the severity of the crime.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin condemning the act and calling for strict action. Protests have erupted across Tamil Nadu, with citizens demanding justice and accountability from the state government. The victim's family staged a protest, refusing to accept her body until they received a statement from the Chief Minister.
