To celebrate National Complementary Feeding Day, the Department of Paediatrics at King George Hospital (KGH) and Andhra Medical College (AMC) introduced two innovative digital health applications: FirstFoods KGH and FeedSmart KGH. The launch was officiated by AMC principal Dr. K.V.S.M. Sandhya Devi and KGH Superintendent Dr. I. Vani, under the leadership of Dr. B.S. Chakravarthy, Head of the Department of Paediatrics. Dr. Vani highlighted the importance of appropriate complementary feeding for infants over six months, noting the common challenges parents face regarding food introduction and dietary management during illness. The FirstFoods KGH app provides bilingual (Telugu-English) guidance on solid food introduction, food allergies, and recognizing warning signs in children. Meanwhile, FeedSmart KGH serves as a personalized feeding guide for children aged 6-24 months, featuring a food diversity score and options to save, print, or share reports via WhatsApp. Dr. Devi praised the apps as essential tools for connecting healthcare providers with families, benefiting parents and health workers alike, including ANMs, ASHAs, and Anganwadi staff. The developers ensured that the apps are user-friendly and prioritize data privacy and security.
