Greater Noida’s Bennett University has expelled a student seen slapping a peer in a viral video that triggered widespread outrage and condemnation on social media. The purported video, which surfaced online in recent days, shows a female student repeatedly slapping another student inside a room while others are present. In the clip, the victim is allegedly made to say “sorry” repeatedly, with each apology followed by a slap. The video quickly went viral, drawing strong reactions from people who demanded strict action. Amid the backlash, Bennett University on Tuesday said it had taken immediate disciplinary action following a preliminary inquiry. Immediate disciplinary action of rusticating the accused has been taken basis preliminary investigation,” it added. The university further stated that the disciplinary action was taken on the basis of initial findings, while a detailed investigation is still ongoing. “A comprehensive inquiry is currently underway. We call upon the media and public to refrain from spreading unverified, misleading information.” Meanwhile, regarding the incident, police said no formal complaint has been received so far. “No formal complaint has been received.
