The Alpine Formula 1 team is set to transform its identity with a new partnership with Gucci, confirmed on Wednesday. This collaboration will see Gucci become the title sponsor, taking over from BWT, and the team will be renamed the 'Gucci Racing Alpine Formula One Team' starting in 2027. The sponsorship deal is valued at over £115 million, running until 2030, and will introduce a new color scheme predominantly featuring Gucci's black and gold, while retaining some blue to honor Alpine's corporate identity. Additionally, Gucci will create new team apparel, including racing overalls for drivers and kits for staff. Team principal Flavio Briatore acknowledges the need for further improvements in competitiveness, stating that the team requires more experienced personnel to achieve their goals. Despite speculation regarding a potential sale of a 24% stake in the team, the majority owners, Renault, have denied any plans for a sale, affirming their commitment to the Alpine brand in Formula 1.
